How does a little girl in New York grow up to be an Arizona photographer who loves taking horse pictures?
You start where I did, with a passion for horses ever since I can remember; a horse-crazy girl in upstate New York without a horse in sight. While my parents "ignored" every request for a horse, (at the top of every birthday and Christmas wish list!), I was lucky enough to grow up with a professional photographer in the house - my dad. Trusted with expensive cameras and lenses at an early age, I developed a natual 'eye' for photography. I eventually found horses to photograph in Rochester, NY, and even more equine subjects when I moved to Montana for college. My favorite days were those spent on farm shoots for local Arabian and Quarter Horse breeders.
But as often happens, real life pushes dreams aside. My photography took a back seat to graduating, marriage, moving to Arizona, and two children.
Fast forward to 2007. My camera equipment sat untouched in the closet when a chance conversation with my mailman revealed he was a photographer in his spare time. With his encouragement I quickly jumped into the digital photography world and haven't looked back. What a joy to rediscover my passion for photography, and equine photography in particular!
